Houston Texans sign LB Houston, DE Langford



Oct. 11 (UPI) — Linebacker Lamar Houston and defensive end Kendall Langford have signed with the Houston Texans.

The Texans announced the signings on Wednesday. Houston also signed guard Dorian Johnson from the Arizona Cardinals practice squad and placed J.J. Watt and Whitney Mercilus on injured reserve in corresponding transactions.

Houston, 30, was a second round pick by the Oakland Raiders in the 2010 NFL Draft.

The Texas product played the first four years of his career for the Raiders before joining the Chicago Bears in 2014. He suffered a torn ACL in 2016 and in 2017 and was released on Sept. 6 with an injury settlement. Houston worked out for the New Orleans Saints, New England Patriots, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Texans before signing with the squad.

Kendall Langford was a third round pick by the Miami Dolphins in the 2008 NFL Draft.

The 31-year-old played the first four years of his career with Miami, before joining the St. Louis Rams in 2012. Langford played the 2015 and 2016 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. He has 290 tackles and 22.5 sacks during his career.

Houston is listed at 6 foot 3, 275 pounds while Langford weighs in at 305 pounds and stands at 6 foot 6.

The Texans also claimed cornerback Marcus Williams off of waivers on Tuesday from the New York Jets.
